Mindfulness Study Opportunity: Uncover the Benefits of MBSR Practice!
Dan Haldman (PhD dissertation student), Marie Sester (Research Assistant), and Glenn Hartelius (Dissertation Chair) from California Institute of Integral Studies are conducting a study of adults living in the United States who have completed a mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) training at any time in the past, and who continue some level of informal or formal practice.
In order to study how MBSR practice works, you will also be instructed in a simple practice that may be related to one of the ways that MBSR creates certain beneficial effects. You will be asked questions related to stressful and mindful qualities of experience, your experience of certain body-located sensations associated with each type of practice, and some comparison questions.
The study is conducted entirely online and will involve 2-3 hours of time. The first part is a set of online questions, then comes an instructional session of up 60 minutes scheduled at your convenience and conducted over Zoom, and then a final set of online questions. On completion of the study, you will receive a $10 Starbucks card as thanks for your participation. The IRB at the California Institute of Integral Studies has approved this study.

Mindfulness Study Opportunity: Mindfulness for Socioemotional Life!
Open to online MBSR course participants
If you currently reside in the United States or Canada, you have the additional opportunity to participate in an independent research study. The study is being conducted by Dr. Clifford Saron and his colleagues at the Center for Mind and Brain at the University of California, Davis. They are investigating the effects of mindfulness-based training on reactions to social and emotional scenes and situations, and on interpersonal experiences in daily life.
If you choose to participate, you will be asked to complete 3 assessments and would be compensated up to $260 for your time. The 3 assessments would be completed from your own home and would take place during the week before your course begins, during the week after your course ends, and 8 weeks after your course ends. Participation in this research is entirely optional and is not part of the training you will receive in your class. If you are interested in learning more about the study, please follow this link to see if you are eligible to participate.
IMPORTANT: The first assessment takes place over 2-3 days and must be completed before your first class. If you are interested in participating, be sure to fill out the screening a minimum of 5 days before the first class to allow sufficient time for participation.
