Course Description

Make an Inner Difference.

This highly interactive 6-week course will support you to:

• Strengthen the inner skills necessary for impactful, sustainable action.

• Understand the current state of our planet and the role you want to play in making a difference.

• See the world through new eyes and feel connected to yourself, others, and the planet.

• Work skillfully with climate anxiety, and worrisome thoughts.

• Collaborate with like-minded people.

• Listen to nature’s wisdom and what she has to teach us.

• Take systemic action together.

• Learn mindfulness-based practices and other holistic methods that lead to a shift in consciousness and agency.

Why might I take this course?

Shift to a Greener Mindset.

• The intention of this course is to offer a transformational process for a mindset shift leading to long-term and systemic thinking and acting, fostering a transition towards more green and fair societies.

• This course is open to anyone who is drawn to meeting like-minded people, worries about the state of our planet, and wants to turn feelings of helplessness into agency and action.

Pricing

This 6-week course is offered for $350.

UC SAN DIEGO EMPLOYEE/STUDENT DISCOUNT

UC San Diego Employees/Students may take the course for $300. You must have an ucsd.edu email address.

Cancellation Policy

A refund (minus the $50 non-refundable deposit) will be made for participants who withdraw prior to the 2nd class by emailing mindfulness@health.ucsd.edu. There will be no refunds after the 2nd class starts. Registration, deposits, and funds are non-transferable.

In the unlikely event that the course is canceled, UC San Diego Center for Mindfulness is responsible only for a full refund of the registration fee and not for transportation, hotel accommodations or any miscellaneous expenses.

The refunds are processed in the same method as the payments were submitted.

Meet Your Facilitators

Shannon Jordan, MA is a certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction teacher who integrates nature and environmental awareness into her facilitation. As someone who cares deeply about the health of our planet, people, and ecosystems, Shannon completed the MBSR Eco-Awareness pilot program through the Bess Family Foundation, an MIT course in Sustainability in Industry, certification as a Mindfulness Based Sustainable Transformation teacher through the Inner Green Deal. She serves as mindfulness faculty for the UC wide climate course initiative, is a certified Search Inside Yourself teacher (the mindfulness and emotional intelligence program originated at Google), a sr. facilitator with Potential Project’s teaching network, and provides holistic leadership development and 1:1 support through her work as an executive coach. Shannon’s has a passion for sustainable design, qigong, yoga and global travel.

 

Mirjam Luthe, MA is certified in yoga, Mindful-Self-Compassion, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Awake in the Wild, complemented by Mindful Schools training, Council Practice and similar dialog techniques. She completed the Mindfulness-Based Sustainable Transformation teacher training, led by the Inner Green Deal. She serves as International Affairs Manager at the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion, and a core team member of the European Network for Grateful Living and the annual Swiss ETH Cortona Week. Mirjam is also a teacher at Monviso-Institute in Italy, a real-world laboratory for research, education, entrepreneurship and new living on sustainability transitions and regenerative design.
