Continuing Education Credit Co-Sponsorship Program for Certified MSC Teachers

Continuing Education Credit Co-Sponsorship Program is available to all Certified MSC teachers who wish to offer the CE credit when they teach an 8-week MSC, 5-day MSC Intensive, MSC Core Skills (2-day in person, 4-day online), 6-week SCHC, 6-week SC-MSC and 10-week LOMSC.

You may also enroll in our CE Co-sponsorship program to offer CEs for the 6-week SCHC and SC-MSC if you’re enrolled in the UCSD Mindfulness-Based Professional Training Institute MSC Certification Pathway and have a mentor.

Program Enrollment Fee: $200/year/organization
CE Fee: $30/participant ($15/participant for 6-week SCHC, 6-week SC-MSC)

Pre-Course Application Form & Required Materials

Upon enrolling in our CE Co-Sponsorship program, please submit the CE Co-Sponsorship Pre-Course Application Form at least 7 days prior to the start of the course.

Following documents/forms are required to complete the Pre-Course Application Form.

  • Attendance Sheet and Sign-in-/out Sheet (Download samples)

    • 5-day MSC:

      • Attendance sheet to be signed by ALL participants on the last day of the course

      • Daily Sign-in/out sheet to be signed by participants who are requesting to obtain CE credit. License information is required for participants who are requesting to obtain CE credit

    • 8-week MSC:

      • Weekly Sign-in sheet to be signed by ALL participants. License information is required for participants who are requesting to obtain CE credit

    • MSC Core Skills (2-day in person, 4-day online):

      • Daily Sign-in/out sheet to be signed by ALL participants. License information is required for participants who are requesting to obtain CE credit

      • Please change CE credit to 11.0 for APA and 13.0 for BRN

    • 6-week SCHC or 6-week SC-MSC:

      • Weekly Sign-in/out sheet to be signed by ALL participants. License information is required for participants who are requesting to obtain CE credit

      • Please change CE credit to 6.0 for APA and 7.0 for BRN

    • 10-week Live Online MSC (LOMSC):

      • Weekly Attendance sheet for ALL participants to be updated weekly by the teacher. License information is required for participants who are requesting to obtain CE credit

  • Promotional Materials with Official CE statement (Download Official CE statement for 8-week or 8-day MSC)

    • Promotional materials should include MSC course description, objectives, dates and location of the course, course fees and teacher(s)’ bio(s). Promotional materials are web pages, flyer, and email announcement.

    • CE credit for 2-day Core Skills: Please change CE credit to 11.0 for APA and 13.0 for BRN

    • CE credit for 6-week SCHS and SC-MSC: Please change CE credit to 6.0 for APA and 7.0 for BRN

    • CE credit for 10-week LOMSC: Please change CE credit to 23.0 for APA and 27.5 for BRN.

  • Learning Objectives for 8-week MSC/5-day MSC/LOMSC
    Following learning objectives must be included in the promotional materials:

    • Describe the theory and research supporting mindful self-compassion

    • Develop and apply self-compassion practices to motivate themselves with encouragement rather than self-criticism

    • Assess and manage difficult situations and emotions with greater moment-to-moment acceptance

    • Develop and apply self-compassion practices to respond to feelings of failure or inadequacy with self-kindness

    • Transform difficult relationships, old and new, through self-validation

    • Utilize the art of savoring and self-appreciation to overcome negative attention bias

    • Apply core mindfulness and self-compassion practices into daily life

    • Demonstrate simple self-compassion practices to patients, students, or clients

  • Learning Objectives for MSC Core Skills (2-day in person, 4-day online)
    Following learning objectives must be included in the promotional materials for MSC Core Skills:

    • Identify the three key components of self-compassion

    • Describe key research that supports the benefits of self-compassion

    • Apply techniques to increase self-compassion in everyday life

    • Use self-compassion to alleviate caregiver burnout

    • Implement self-compassion practice to motivate behavior change

    • Develop and apply self-compassion practices to respond to feelings of failure or inadequacy with self-kindness

    • Assess and manage difficult situations and emotions with greater moment-to-moment acceptance

  • Learning Objectives for SCHC and SC-MSC
    Following learning objectives must be included in the promotional materials for SCHC:

    • Describe the main components of self-compassion and mindfulness and how they may be integrated into their role as healthcare professionals.

    • Explain the difference between empathy and compassion and utilize strategies to avoid emotional exhaustion.

    • Demonstrate strategies they can use on the job to regulate difficult emotions while caring for others in pain.

    • Apply at least one skill from each session to help them regulate emotions and care for themselves emotionally while caring for others who are experiencing difficulty.

Post-Course Application Form & Required Materials

Upon completion of your course, you must submit an online CE Co-Sponsorship Post-Course Application Form within 2 weeks after the course completion. After you submit the Post-Course Application Form and required materials, please email mindfulness@health.ucsd.edu. CE fees will be charged to your credit card we have on file.

    • 5-day MSC:
