The UC San Diego Center for Integrative Nutrition houses state-of-the-art professional training, clinical care, and rigorous research in integrative nutrition and natural medicine. Services include personal healing through the use of food as medicine, targeted natural therapeutics, and mind-body disciplines.
The Center for Integrative Nutrition is home of the Natural Healing & Cooking School, an eight-week, four-week, or four-day immersion in which participants learn core principles of how to use food as medicine.
For those interested in making “food as medicine” part of their career, we also offer a Certificate in Integrative Nutrition, a 140-hour distance-education program.
To further the field of evidenced-based knowledge in nutrition science, we are conducting several high-potential research projects on the effects of diet on disease states, in collaboration with the UC San Diego Center for Integrative Research.
Our integrative nutrition patient care team combines the principles of medical nutrition therapy with integrative and functional medicine to provide counseling, education, and guidance for personalized, whole-food, plant-based diet and lifestyle nutrition therapy. Areas of focus include dietary changes, lifestyle modifications, physical activity recommendations, collaboration with the health care team, laboratory nutrient analysis, physical assessment, and evidence-based functional food or supplement suggestions based on specific findings or symptoms.
